The flies of choice for the Beaver Ponds.

Unconfirmed Rumors?

Tomorrow we would hike down off the mountain and continue further into the wilderness to try our luck for Rainbows at a secret beaver pond complex that few people knew about. They called it ‘Complex B’. It was rumored that within this beaver pond complex, lurked monstrous and freakishly sized Rainbows and Brook Trout. Our mission was to see what was there – to check it out, to confirm or debunk the rumors.

2019 South Park: Season Premiere

No, I am not talking about the cartoon! I am talking about the best place to fish for trophy trout (arguably) in Colorado. It was only a couple of days ago, on the 27th of April we saw the opening day at Spinney Mountain Reservoir for the 2019 season, and today May 1st, the south boat ramp at Antero Reservoir opens up; with the north boat ramp following suite a couple weeks later on May 25th. Last but not least, we saw Eleven Mile Reservoir open up for boating on the 29th of April. So officially, the 2019 South Park season is well underway!

A Gulf Coast Adventure

a twin pair of MH-65 Dolphin US Coast Guard Rescue helicopters lifted off out of Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi heading south. They buzzed low over the treacherous sea, their AGL only a couple feet above the rolling waves, their search lights glaring. Their target: an overturned fishing boat somewhere within Laguna Madre, marooned smack in-between Corpus Christi and Port Mansfield.

Opening Day

It meant getting back into the old pair of waders, cutting and replacing old decoy lines, checking the weights, conducting touch-up paint jobs on the seasoned decoys, purchasing duck stamps, reading recent migration reports, scouting new spots, taking out the old duck calls, taking the long road trip, and connecting with lifelong hunting buddies and dear family members.
